Galen Schroeder is a full-time, professional book indexer located in Fargo, North Dakota. A circuitous path led him from a B.A. in Political Science from Kansas State University in 1964 to a Ph.D. in Agronomy from North Dakota State University in 1981. After 20+ years in agricultural R&D, industry downsizing provided an opportunity to “discover” a passion for book indexing. He completed the USDA Graduate School indexing course in 2001. He has a broad range of indexing interests; but with a life-long avocation in history, he especially focuses on Western U.S., African American, and Native American history.
Galen is a member of the American Society for Indexing, Agricultural History Society, Society for Military History, Vietnam Veterans of America, and the Weed Science Society of America. He is an Oblate of St. Benedict affiliated with St. John’s Abbey at Collegeville, Minnesota and an Ambassador for the Fargo-Moorhead Chamber of Commerce. He conducts his indexing business as Dakota Indexing.
