BlackPast.org's 5th Anniversary

BlackPast.org LogoBeginning with just over 300 pages and built with the efforts of many hundreds of hours of design, content insertion, entry editing, and graphics creation, BlackPast.org was launched on the first day of Black History Month, February 1st, 2007.

Within the first week of opening our internet doors, BlackPast.org had so many visitors, the web server crashed under the load and had to be immediately upgraded within the first three days of launch!

Five years later, the site now has over 10,000 pages, and on April 2, 2012, it passed the ten million mark in unique visitors.  Many thousands of entries, profiles, speeches, photographs, and special features have been added through the tireless work of hundreds of volunteers and contributors from five continents around the world.  We hope you will help us continue to grow this global audience by recommending BlackPast.org to relatives, friends, colleagues, and all who may be interested.

Ultimately what makes BlackPast.org a success and what keeps all of us going are you, the visitors and users of this site. Without you, BlackPast.org would not exist. We thank you for visiting us and making BlackPast.org a valuable part of the important history we strive to help preserve.

THANK YOU!
