Pero Gaglo Dagbovie is an associate professor of history at Michigan State University in East Lansing, Michigan. He has published numerous articles in The Journal of African American History (formerly Woodson’s The Journal of Negro History). His books include Black History: “Old School” Black Historians and the Hip Hop Generation (2006), The Early Black History Movement, Carter G. Woodson, and Lorenzo Johnston Greene (2007), and African American History Reconsidered (2010). As the Principal Investigator for the Carter G. Woodson Home, NHS, his current project is the Historic Resource Study entitled “Willing to Sacrifice”: Carter G. Woodson, the Father of Black History, and the Carter G. Woodson Home, NHS (National Park Service, U.S. Department of Interior, Washington, D.C., June 2010).
