Max Hunter is a John Perkins Center Teaching Fellow at Seattle Pacific University and is managing editor of the Perkins Perspective Newsletter.  He is also the community liaison for the Perkins Center.  Hunter has an A.M. and an Ed.M. from Harvard University, and certificate in bioethics from Harvard Medical School, and is working toward a Ph.D. in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies at the University of Washington, Seattle.

His teaching and research center around bioethics, diversity in the classroom, the history of ideas, and the importance of education in the African American experience. He is currently researching and writing a book on the role of literacy in the black male experience. He is also chronicling the story of his transformation from a drug trafficker and street hustler to a university professor as an attempt to better understand the urban problems still plaguing our nation and promoting dialogue towards solutions.
